The first step to planning your trip to Disney Parks is to plan out the park days for your visit. This will lay the foundation for the rest of your plans.
Which parks should your family visit?
You might decide this based on your family’s preferences or the ages of members in your family. I am going to break down how I do this for my family and how you might plan for yours.
Our family chooses to visit all four parks when we visit because we stay for about a week. This gives us ample time to tour each park during our stay. If the length of your stay allows it, I would highly recommend getting to all of the parks. However, if your stay is shorter you might not get to all of the parks and will want to decide which parks to fit in during your stay. You will need to prioritize where to go!
Families with smaller children might want to prioritize including parks with many rides for all heights. While families with older/taller children will have more flexibility and might determine their park choices based on interests.

When should you visit each park?
As for which days do tour each park, you might want to think about what your family might want to do first or save for last. For example, my three year old does not think we are at Disney World unless he sees the castle. So our family always hits up the Magic Kingdom on our first park day. This way we can prove we are indeed at Disney World!
If your concern is avoiding busy parks then you might want to consider looking at a crowd calendar. Undercover Tourist provides a free crowd calendar that you can reference. Touring Plans is a paid subscription which features a crowd calendar as well as many other tools that can help you plan your trip.
